For over 90 years, Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital has cared for the citizens of Schuyler, Cass, Brown and southern Fulton Counties.
Culbertson is a 22-bed Critical Access Hospital that employs more than 180 staff members who provide round-the-clock-care and support services for patients. In addition to its in-patient services, Culbertson maintains 24-hour-a-day emergency, laboratory and radiology departments, surgical services, therapy services, a wound clinic, a cardiac rehabilitation unit and multiple outpatient clinics. The hospital also has family practice clinics in Astoria, Beardstown and Rushville.
Culbertson has made a commitment to improve local healthcare services so area residents can receive care close to home. In the last few years, the hospital has invested in state-of-the-art services such as an in-house CT scanner, laboratory equipment and a conversion to digital mammography. The hospital also added a hospitalist program, in-house sleep lab, a geriatric behavioral health program, privatized the surgical suite waiting room and preps and hold areas, as well as poured more resources into speech, occupational and physical therapy services.
Recently, the hospital renovated the West Wing, creating a patient friendly entrance to the West Wing of the hospital, 30 more parking spaces, easier access to outpatient services and an Activities of Daily Living Occupational Therapy Suite.
At a time when many rural communities in the U. S. have little or no access to local healthcare, Culbertson Memorial Hospital maintains an expert medical staff consisting of three area physicians, two physician assistants and two nurse practitioners. Additionally, a growing number of regional specialty physicians commute to our facilities in Rushville and Beardstown each week to offer their expertise in the fields of allergy and immunology, cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, gastroenterology and more.
