Better Recipes for Wellness
A healthy diet is the foundation for better well-being. We’ve all heard the importance of eating healthy, well-balanced meals, but what does that look like in practice? Unfortunately, preparing healthier meals is more challenging for some than it is for others.
Thankfully, support is available locally to help provide more insight into how to prepare healthier meals or use ingredients within some dietary restrictions. Medical nutrition therapy — or outpatient dietary counseling — with Registered Dietitian Katie Horstmeyer offers personalized guidance to help patients make informed food choices, manage chronic diseases, and improve overall quality of life. Patients receive individualized education and counseling for a wide variety of illnesses and conditions, as well as the confidence to prepare meals sourced from healthy ingredients.
Medical nutrition therapy at Culbertson Memorial Hospital requires a referral from a primary care physician. Consultations are available for the following illnesses and conditions:
- Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Compulsive overeating
- Diabetes
- Food allergies and food sensitivities
- Gastrointestinal diseases such as IBS, IBD, Crohn’s disease, diverticulosis, and diverticulitis
- Healthy nutrition for all stages of life from youth to older adults
- Healthy nutrition for pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and lactation

- Hypertension
