Sarah D Culbertson Memorial Hospital is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide occupational therapy services in our therapy clinics (Beardstown and Rushville). The Occupational Therapist will work closely with the Program Director to provide quality occupational therapy services that will support the individual’s daily living skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Directs the Occupational Therapy Department certified staff, including Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapy students.
- Observes and evaluates treatment affect. Recommends change to physician, if needed.
- Performs an appropriate assessment on each patient, as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments, as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
- Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family is included in teaching, as appropriate.
- Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency of occupational therapy modalities.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs of patients and family.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
- Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians, staff and administrative team.
- Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
- Maintains records pertinent to the personnel and operation of the department.
- Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
- Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
- Consults other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
- Meets current documentation standards and policies.
- Participates in educational staff performance improvement inservices. Assists with orientation and inservice training for certified department staff members. Participates in guidance and educational programs.
- Provides evaluation of certified staff, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating and termination.
- Coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (Occupational Therapy Assistants, patient care assistants, etc.).
- Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines.
- Ensures that patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
- Participates in infection control, departmental equipment training and organizational safety and fire safety programs.
- Other duties assigned.
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
- Maintains current knowledge of hospital policies and adheres to all policies.
- Adheres to all HIPAA and DHHS privacy and security regulations.
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
- Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
- Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
- Maintains regulatory requirements – State, Federal, regulating and standard
- Communicates the Mission, Vision and Value of the hospital and maintains the Standards of Behavior.
- Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control. Maintains medical staff rules/requirements as well as regulatory body standards.
- Support CMH on the continuous culture improvement journey aimed at improving customer satisfaction and employee relations.
- Accountability to provide service excellence to our patients and co-workers.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association
- Graduate from an approved school of Occupational Therapy
- Current State Licensure
- Current BCLS certification
Shift: Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
