Biography:
Elizabeth Lawler, MSN, FNP-BC, recently joined Prairie Cardiovascular in Springfield.
She chose to work as a cardiac nurse practitioner because that’s the area of medicine she loved and the specialty she had pursued for the majority of her health care career. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she spent over eight years as cardiothoracic ICU nurse at a Level I trauma center in Chicago. As a bedside nurse, she saw many preventable hospitalizations with poor outcomes. She wanted to become a nurse practitioner in cardiology so she could be in a position to help her patients better manage their cardiac conditions to avoid hospitalizations and live longer, healthier lives.
Born and raised in Central Illinois, Lawler is excited to return to the area to provide health care to the community. She has been married for eight years and has two children. In her free time, she spends a lot of time with her seven-year-old son and two-year-old daughter. She shared, “We like to do outdoor activities like going on walks or to the park. When I do have free time to myself, I enjoy working out and going to dinner with friends.”
